Why I Enjoy Playing PLAAY.com Games
My collection of PLAAY.com board games thus far

 There are many reasons why I am a fan of  PLAAY.com games so I wanted to create a post outlining these reasons:

1.  Outstanding Customer Service

Yes, there are other game companies that have good customer service, but I find that the customer service with Keith and PLAAY.com are absolutely incredible.  Keith is very responsive to any questions that you may have regarding his fantastic games, whether it is a simple clarification on one of the rules or if you wanted to make a special or unique purchase, he goes out of his way to make sure that you are taken care of and are happy!  In addition, Keith is the only person that I know of that actually rewards you for completing a season or tournament with one of his games by sending you the renowned, PLAAY.com Cup!

In addition, Keith provides a free monthly newsletter that is full of great information on upcoming gaming events, free downloads, mug giveaway contests and other useful and wonderful information to increase your enjoyment of your games!

2.  Strong PLAAY.com Community Forum Online:

Another great feature is the wonderful online PLAAY.com gaming community, especially the PLAAY Games Forum in the Delphi Forum.  This is where sports board game fans like yourself from all over the world are able to communicate and share their thoughts, ideas, and passion of sports board gaming.  What I found is that the people in the forum are very friendly and are willing to lend a hand in answering any questions that you may have and often will share their own teams, charts, strategy cards or household rules that they had created for other board-gamers to download for free.

3.  The Uniqueness of the Games:

What makes PLAAY.com games different is that the games are based on qualities and narrative rather than just doing number crunching, which matches with what I look for in a board game.  You can easily create story-lines with many of his games, especially with History Maker Baseball and History Maker Golf.

In addition, Keith also provides a way for you to create your own player or teams with a "How To" guide for almost every one of his games.  No other game companies that I know offer this wonderful option!

Another unique aspect of PLAAY.com games is that it not only offers current or past seasons of teams and players, but it also offers All-Time Greats and fictional sets as well.  For me, I love the fictional sets because I have the flexibility to create my own "history" with players and teams without worrying about any pre-set expectations or if whether the players will say or do certain things on or off the field.  I can be more creative with the "reporting."

4.  A Variety of Sports:

Besides the usual quintessential American sports like American Football, Baseball, and Hockey that you will find with other sports companies, PLAAY.com also have unique sports like Box/Indoor Lacrosse (Lacrosse Blast) and Roller Derby (Roller Rumble).   One of the interesting things I like about the Roller Rumble game is that you can quickly play the first half and play out the second half if you choose.  One of the forum members, Mike Sagliano even created a free download to adapt the bank track to the modern flat track roller derby that is popular today.  Similarly, another forum member, Mark Zigler created the wonderful College Outdoor Lacrosse version of Lacrosse Blast as well!

As of this writing, the other sports that are offered by PLAAY.com are Bowling, Pro Wrestling, Soccer, Stock Car Racing, Canadian Football, and Golf.

5.  Solitaire and Multiple players

Another great aspect of PLAAY.com games is that it allows you to be able to play both with other opponents AND by yourself and still have tremendous fun either way!   Being able to play with family or friends is ideal, but it is definitely nice to have options.  These wonderful games allow you to create you own "house rules" and still maintain the integrity of the game.  For example, when I play against family or friends, I don't mind spending more than an hour to play, but when I play the game solitaire, I like to play it within an hour, so I usually use my "house rules" to speed up gameplay.  The bottom line is that the games give you multiple options and thereby providing tremendous value to these incredible games.

6.  Realistic and Fun


The PLAAY.com games will, for the most part, give you realistic results and are incredibly fun to play (even more realistic results than video games in my opinion)!  The games are overall, easy to play, but if you need to see the games in action, there are plenty of video play through like those from Al Wilson, Kiefer Fairbank's, "In The Bleachers", and Steve Tower's, "After Further Review" on youtube.  These videos are very informative and can give you more of an idea if these games are right for you, and while I'm sure most if not all of the PLAAY.com games are really fun to play, I especially enjoy playing both 'Lacrosse Blast' and 'Soccer Blast'!

Box or Indoor Lacrosse For those that may not be familiar with indoor lacrosse (also commonly called box lacrosse), or lacrosse in general, there are essentially two professional lacrosse leagues in North America.  The Major Lacrosse League, which is an outdoor lacrosse league, and the National Lacrosse League is the indoor lacrosse league.  A while back, there was the San Francisco Dragons of the MLL and the San Jose Stealth in the NLL , but unfortunately, both teams are now defunct, with the Stealth now currently playing as the Vancouver Stealth in the NLL.  For me, I prefer watching the indoor lacrosse game. My First Sports Board Game My journey into sports board game started when I was a young kid, I received a football board game for Christmas called " All-American Football Game"   by Cadaco.  Although I knew that this game was a 'vintage' football game and that it was a college game (I noticed, for example, that the picture on the cover showed players wearing the old style Roger Staubach-type facemask instead of the kind that Joe Montana would wear, and that the rule book stated that the kick-off was from the forty yard line),  I didn't mind, however, because American football, whether it was college or professional, was my favorite sport, and I was eager to just start playing and creating my own fictional football season!
